New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Pick & Prediction APRIL 30th 2025

Preview and Prediction
The New York Yankees will face a significant obstacle on Wednesday night as they strive to replicate the events of the previous evening.
However, the Yankees will approach the final game of the series against the Baltimore Orioles with a plethora of positive emotions. This is the result of their impressive performance on Tuesday night, where they hit six home runs in a 15-3 victory.
"It was a joy to watch, without a doubt - a lot of well-struck balls," commented New York manager Aaron Boone.
The Orioles must regroup, a task they have been faced with numerous times this month.
"This has occurred quite a few times this year," stated manager Brandon Hyde. "We want our players to continue fighting... I don't believe it's ever easy because it has happened to us quite frequently this year."
This is the second time in less than 10 days that Baltimore has suffered a double-digit defeat at home. The first was a 24-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on April 20th.
"We will attempt to bounce back tomorrow," Hyde said. "I believe our players will be ready to win the series, and I hope that starting pitcher Cade Povich sets the tone for us on the mound. The guys will be prepared. You just have to put it behind you and come back tomorrow."
New York's right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-1, 5.26 ERA) will attempt to match his win total from 2024, where he made 21 starts for the Cleveland Guardians. Although he has had two consecutive no-decisions, he held the Toronto Blue Jays scoreless for five innings in his last outing on Friday.
Carrasco has faced Baltimore eight times in his career, boasting a record of 4-2 with a 2.22 ERA across 48 2/3 innings.
The Orioles have enlisted left-hander Cade Povich (1-2, 5.04 ERA) as their starting pitcher, following his best performance of the season. In his last outing, he held the Washington Nationals to one run in 6 2/3 innings, earning his first win of the season. The Orioles won the game 2-1.
"Looking back to last year and comparing my good starts to my bad ones, I have noticed that when I am competitive in the zone, the results tend to be better," said Povich.
Povich suffered a loss against the Yankees in a home game last July, where he allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up a solo home run to Aaron Judge and matched his season-high with five walks.
Hyde expressed his gratitude towards Charlie Morton, who had struggled in most of his first six outings this year, for being able to pitch 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen on Tuesday.
The Orioles made changes to their pitching staff earlier on Tuesday by sending right-hander Kade Strowd back to Triple-A Norfolk.
There have also been other roster changes this week. Catcher Maverick Handley was called up from Norfolk and made his major league debut as a substitute in Tuesday night's game. Catcher Gary Sanchez was placed on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right wrist.
"We are delighted for him to have this opportunity," stated Hyde in reference to Handley.
Meanwhile, infielder Emmanuel Rivera has returned to the team and made his season debut for Baltimore on Tuesday night, going 0-for-2 with a run.
Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. will not be playing on Wednesday due to discomfort in his right oblique, after leaving the game early on Tuesday.
"He will undergo testing back in New York on the off day," said Boone. "We will not make any immediate decisions."

New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles Recap JUL 14TH 2024
Cedric Mullins ripped a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of a wild ninth inning as the Baltimore Orioles pulled out a 6-5 victory against the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday, ending a five-game losing streak.
The Orioles, who lead the American League East at the All-Star break, were down to their final out just moments after their one-run lead vanished. But Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe's fielding error helped prolong the game, and Mullins, who entered the game earlier as a pinch runner, took advantage.
Closer Clay Holmes (1-4), the Yankees' fifth reliever, took the loss by giving up three unearned runs.
Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Santander homered for the Orioles, who dodged a season-worst six-game skid. They went 1-5 on the homestand.
Ben Rice drilled a three-run ninth-inning home run in the top of the ninth to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead, but the visitors were unable to complete the three-game series sweep. They were denied their first three-game winning streak since capturing four in a row from June 9-12.
Rice's sixth homer of the season came off Craig Kimbrel, who walked the first two batters in the ninth and then was dinged for runs for the first time in his last eight appearances.
The Orioles didn't exactly snap out of their offensive doldrums, but they scored more than two runs for the first time in six games. They had managed two runs in their previous two games combined after they were shutout victims in the two games before that.
The top six players in New York's batting order went a combined 1-for-18 with three walks before Rice delivered.
Yankees starter Carlos Rodon went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. He threw 98 pitches, failing to reach the five-inning mark in consecutive starts for the first time this year.
Kimbrel (6-2), who walked Grisham and Oswaldo Cabrera before giving up the home run, got the win.
Orioles starter Dean Kremer lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
The Yankees opened the scoring on Grisham's two-out single in the second. That knocked in Volpe, who had doubled.
Henderson gave the Orioles their first lead since last Sunday -- a span of five-plus games -- by unloading for a two-run home run after James McCann led off the third with a walk.
Henderson's 28th home run ended an eight-game homerless stretch. He's third in the majors behind only Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Grisham, who went 3-for-3 and was the only Yankees hitter with multiple hits, belted his sixth long ball to tie the score in the fifth.
Santander's 24th homer of the season came off Tommy Kahnle and snapped a tie with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
Santander and Jorge Mateo both finished with two hits for the Orioles.
