USC Selects Miller Moss as Future Starting Quarterback

The 2024 season for Southern California will begin with Miller Moss as the starting quarterback, as announced by coach Lincoln Riley on Monday.

Moss will take on the spotlight in Los Angeles after serving as a backup quarterback for the Trojans for three years.

In a limited role last year, Moss played in five games and completed 46 of 65 passes for 681 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception. His standout performance came in the Holiday Bowl, where he went 23-for-33 for 372 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception in a 42-28 victory over Louisville. This opportunity arose when the No. 1 quarterback, Caleb Williams, chose to sit out and prepare for the NFL draft.

Moss faced competition for the starting job from transfer Jayden Maiava. Maiava played in all 14 games for UNLV last year, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 3,085 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

In the Big Ten preseason media poll, USC was ranked sixth out of 18 teams in their first year in the conference. The Trojans will kick off their season on September 1st with a non-conference game against LSU in Las Vegas.
