Beau Atkinson, a defensive end who spent two years at North Carolina, will be transferring to Ohio State.

On Monday, he took an official trip to Columbus.

Last season, the 6-foot-6 Atkinson recorded 35 tackles (12 for loss), 7.5 sacks, and five quarterback hits in 13 games.

During his redshirt freshman year in 2023, he had 19 tackles (4.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks, and forced a fumble in 13 games.

Originally from Raleigh, N.C., Atkinson was ranked as a four-star transfer prospect and the 20th best edge rusher by 247Sports.

He still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Atkinson will be a valuable addition to the defending national champions, the Buckeyes, and their new defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia. He will help fill the void left by the departure of seniors J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, Ty Hamilton, and Tyleik Williams.
