TJ Finley returns to transfer portal following Tulane's acquisition of new QB

The day after Tulane secured former Big Ten quarterback Brendan Sullivan through the transfer portal, suspended signal caller TJ Finley also entered the portal on Friday morning.
Finley, who has attended five different schools, was recently disciplined after being arrested for allegedly possessing stolen items worth over $25,000. The truck he was driving had a license plate from a stolen vehicle in Atlanta.
According to Finley's attorney, the Ponchatoula, La., native was a victim of an online scam and was unaware that the vehicle was stolen. He had made a purchase through a social media marketplace.
After the arrest, Tulane suspended Finley indefinitely.
Finley is scheduled to appear in court on June 1 in New Orleans.
During his college career, Finley has played for LSU, Auburn, Texas State, and Western Kentucky. He transferred to Tulane in December.
Throughout his career, Finley has thrown for 6,128 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. His most successful season was in 2023 when he threw for 3,439 yards, 24 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions.
On Thursday, Tulane received a commitment from Sullivan, who previously played for Northwestern and Iowa.
Last season, Sullivan threw for 475 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions, and also rushed for 150 yards and four touchdowns during his time with the Hawkeyes.
