"Florida State's 4-Star QB Recruit Brady Smigiel Withdraws Commitment, According to Reports"

Breaking News: Florida State Drops 4-star QB Brady Smigiel from Commitment List

Star quarterback Brady Smigiel, who is a highly rated player in the Class of 2026, withdrew his commitment from Florida State on Sunday, according to various media reports.

Smigiel, who has been a starting quarterback at Newbury Park (Calif.) High School for three years, had verbally committed to the Seminoles in June 2024, choosing them over other top programs like Michigan. On Saturday, Ohio State's offensive coordinator Chip Kelly visited Smigiel's home, while UCLA, South Carolina, and Washington have also shown interest in him recently.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound quarterback is ranked as the 63rd best prospect in his class, the 5th best quarterback, and the 10th best player in California, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

According to his father and coach, Joe Smigiel, the young quarterback plans to take some visits to other schools after his impressive junior season, where he threw for 3,521 yards and 49 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He also ran for 11 touchdowns and over 400 yards. In his three years of high school, Smigiel has a total of 147 touchdown passes and over 11,000 passing yards.

Last season, Florida State had a disappointing record of 2-10 under head coach Mike Norvell. However, they have a new offensive coordinator in former UCF head coach Gus Malzahn. On Sunday, the Seminoles quickly made an offer to four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley from Celina (Texas) High School.

Bentley, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 200 pounds, led Celina to an undefeated season and the Texas 4A D-I state championship in 2024. He is currently ranked as the 292nd best player in his class, the 18th best quarterback, and the 39th best player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite.
