"Extended Agreement Secures Ryan Day's Tenure at Ohio State Until 2031"

Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day have reached an agreement on a seven-year contract that will run through the 2031 season. The contract is worth $12.5 million annually.

Pending approval from the university's trustees, the new deal adds three years to Day's current contract.

In January, the Buckeyes claimed the College Football Playoff national championship, making Day one of only three active coaches - along with Dabo Swinney of Clemson and Kirby Smart of Georgia - to have won the trophy.

According to athletic director Ross Bjork, \"Ohio State Football has always been synonymous with excellence, and under Ryan Day's leadership, that tradition has not only continued, but flourished.\"

Bjork continued, stating that stability at the head coaching position is crucial in the ever-changing landscape of college football, and this new contract ensures that the team will maintain its momentum in recruiting, player development, and overall success. Although the Buckeyes finished the regular season with a 10-2 record, a 13-10 loss to rival Michigan in November had some fans calling for Day's dismissal. However, the team entered the CFP as the No. 7 seed and went on to win four games, including a dominant performance against Notre Dame in the title game, to claim their ninth national championship and first since 2014. This victory also improved Day's career record to 70-10.

Day expressed his gratitude for being a part of the Ohio State community and football program, and thanked his assistant coaches and staff for their tireless efforts in keeping the team among the top programs in the country.
