Update: Uncertainty Surrounds Mike Trout's Return After Setback, According to Report

A vague hindrance concerning the surgically repaired left knee of Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has complicated a timeline for his comeback.
Trout, who is enduring his fourth season of significant time lost to injury, is being sent for further evaluation on his knee, according to Angels general manager Perry Minasian, as reported by the Orange County Register.
The 32-year-old Trout, a three-time American League MVP, underwent surgery on the knee in early May to fix a torn meniscus. He was unable to determine how he injured the knee.
While playing for Triple-A Salt Lake on July 23 during a rehab game, the 11-time All-Star left after two innings due to discomfort in the knee.
When asked on Tuesday for more information about Trout's injury status, Minasian stated, "I'm not going to go into specifics. He had a setback."
Trout was batting .220 with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs in 29 games this season. He holds a career batting average of .299 with 378 home runs, 954 RBIs, 1,123 runs scored, and 212 stolen bases.
In addition, the Angels placed oft-injured third baseman Anthony Rendon on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday due to lower back inflammation. The move is retroactive to Saturday.
"Obviously, these two guys have been banged up and I understand that they're both disappointed," Minasian said. "They both want to play. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. We'll just keep moving forward."
The Angels are currently in fourth place in the American League West and are far behind in the wild-card standings. They traded closer Carlos Estevez and fellow reliever Luis Garcia at the trade deadline.
