The Denver Post reported Thursday that Austin Gomber, a southpaw for the Colorado Rockies, will begin the season on the injured list due to shoulder discomfort.
In his sole appearance this spring, the 31-year-old Gomber struck out three batters and allowed only one hit in two scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox on February 25th.
During the previous season, Gomber started a career-high 30 games and had a record of 5-12 with a 4.75 ERA. In 165 innings, he struck out 116 batters, walked 38, and gave up 30 home runs.
Gomber has played in a total of 156 games (112 starts) for the St. Louis Cardinals (2018, 2020) and the Rockies, with a combined record of 35-40 and an ERA of 4.86.
