Dodgers place RHP Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) on IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol to the 15-day disabled list on Thursday due to inflammation in his right shoulder. At the same time, they activated catcher Austin Barnes from the 10-day DL.
To fill these roster spots, the Dodgers called up right-hander Ben Casparius from Triple-A Oklahoma City and sent catcher Hunter Feduccia down to Triple-A.
Graterol will not be available for the start of the Dodgers' postseason, whether they begin in the wild-card round or the National League Divisional Series. The team currently holds a three-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the NL West and only needs two more wins to clinch the division title. If they win the series finale against the Padres on Thursday, they will secure the division.
The 26-year-old Graterol is one of the Dodgers' top bullpen pitchers, but he has struggled with injuries throughout the 2024 season.
After missing the first half of the season with a shoulder injury, Graterol returned on Aug. 6 and threw eight pitches before straining his hamstring and going back on the DL. He came back on Sept. 10 and had six scoreless appearances in September before his shoulder flared up again.
In his career, Graterol has a 2.78 ERA in 188 games (including five starts) for the Minnesota Twins (2019) and the Dodgers (2020-24).
Barnes, 34, was placed on the DL on Sept. 16 due to a fractured left big toe. He has played in 52 games this season as the Dodgers' backup catcher, hitting .261 with one home run and 11 RBIs.
Casparius, 25, will make his third appearance with the big-league club after pitching in relief for the Dodgers on Aug. 31 and Sept. 22. He earned his first major league win by throwing one scoreless inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks and then pitched three innings against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday before being sent back down to the minors.
Feduccia, 27, played in five games for the Dodgers earlier this season, most recently on Saturday. He has a .333 batting average with one RBI in 12 at-bats.
