Cubs Obtain Guardians Right-Handed Pitcher Eli Morgan, Designate Patrick Wisdom for Assignment
According to ESPN, the Chicago Cubs are set to acquire right-hander Eli Morgan from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for a prospect.
The specific prospect involved in the trade has not been revealed at this time.
In order to add Morgan to their 40-man roster, the Cubs will be designating infielder/outfielder Patrick Wisdom for assignment, as reported.
Morgan, who is 28 years old, posted an impressive 1.93 ERA in 32 relief appearances for the Guardians during the previous season. In his four seasons with the team, he has recorded a 3.97 ERA in 161 appearances, including 19 starts.
As for Wisdom, the 33-year-old had a batting average of .171 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs in 75 games with the Cubs in the last season. Throughout his career, he has a .209 batting average and has hit 88 home runs.
