'Astros Pitcher Luis Garcia (elbow) Experiences Another Delay'
The Houston Astros are halting the performance of right-hander Luis Garcia due to discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow, as stated by manager Joe Espada on Thursday.
The previous 15-game victor was set to pitch live batting practice on Thursday, but will instead undergo further examination in his most recent setback since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2023.
Garcia, who is 28 years old, missed the entire previous season after only making six starts in 2023. He was the runner-up for the American League Rookie of the Year award in 2021 and achieved a record of 15-8 with a 3.72 ERA for the World Series champion Astros in 2022.
Since his debut with Houston in 2020, Garcia has a record of 28-19 with a 3.61 ERA in 69 games (63 starts). He has struck out 364 batters and walked 112 in 352 innings.
