San Francisco Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies Pick & Prediction APRIL 17th 2025

Preview and Prediction
After winning a series against the New York Yankees, the San Francisco Giants have the opportunity to secure another series victory against the Philadelphia Phillies as they continue their 10-game road trip on Thursday afternoon.
The Giants were able to take two out of three games against the Yankees over the weekend and have already won two out of three games in their current series against the Phillies.
In Wednesday's game, Mike Yastrzemski, Jung Hoo Lee, Wilmer Flores, and Patrick Bailey each had two RBIs, helping the Giants to an 11-4 victory. This win improved their road record to 9-3 for the season.
When asked about his team's resiliency, Giants manager Bob Melvin stated, "We've shown that the entire season. That's who these guys are."
Despite giving up a 4-2 lead, the Giants were able to bounce back and score seven runs in the later innings of the game. This was largely due to the struggles of Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola, who walked four batters and now holds a 0-4 record for the season.
Nola commented on the Giants' performance, saying, "They're a scrappy team. They found some holes and got some good hits. They put some pressure on me."
On the other hand, Giants pitcher Lou Trivino had a strong outing, pitching two scoreless innings and earning the win for his team. He, along with Camilo Doval and Spencer Bivens, only allowed one hit in five scoreless innings of relief for starting pitcher Robbie Ray.
Trivino expressed his appreciation for his team's pitching, stating, "I think this team is very talented. It's great to see the kind of pitching that we have. Just to be a part of it, I'm very thankful."
In Thursday's game, the Giants will turn to Jordan Hicks (1-1, 5.87 ERA) as their starting pitcher. Hicks had a rough outing in his last game, giving up seven runs in four innings against the Yankees. However, he has a strong track record against the Phillies, with a 3-1 record and 2.81 ERA in 13 career games against them.
The Phillies will counter with Cristopher Sanchez (1-0, 3.12 ERA), who is coming off a win in his last start against the St. Louis Cardinals. In his career, Sanchez has made three appearances against the Giants, with a 1-0 record and 0.84 ERA.
After Thursday's game, the Giants will head to Anaheim, California for a series against the Los Angeles Angels, while the Phillies will host the Miami Marlins for a weekend series.
