"Oliver Oakes Named Team Principal for Alpine"

Oliver Oakes will take over as the new team principal of Alpine, replacing the outgoing Bruno Famin, according to an announcement made by the Formula 1 organization on Wednesday.
At 36 years old, Oakes is a former driver and the founder of Hitech Grand Prix. He will become the second-youngest boss in F1 when he assumes his new role after the summer break.
\"I am extremely grateful to (Renault Group CEO) Luca de Meo and (executive advisor) Flavio Briatore for giving me the opportunity to lead BWT Alpine F1 Team back to competitiveness,\" Oakes stated.
\"The team has a talented group of individuals and excellent resources, and I am confident that together we can achieve great things this season and in the future. I am excited to get started after the summer break.\"
De Meo expressed his excitement for Oakes to join the team.
\"We are thrilled to have Oli join our team and become one of the youngest Team Principals in the sport's history. This team is being built for long-term success, and Oli's appointment in a senior role reflects that. We are eager to harness his enthusiasm, energy, and passion for racing and instill that mindset throughout the entire team.\"
Currently, Alpine ranks eighth in the F1 constructors' standings with drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
