Announcement: Alpine to Continue with Jack Doohan for the Time Being
Alpine Racing has reportedly confirmed that Jack Doohan will retain his seat for the foreseeable future, according to multiple sources on Monday.
The 22-year-old rookie in Formula One has been the subject of much speculation this season, with rumors circulating that reserve driver Franco Colapinto may replace him after six races.
So far, there have been four Grand Prix races in the 2025 season.
The speculation intensified after Doohan's rough start, which included a crash on the first lap of the Australian Grand Prix on March 16 and receiving four penalty points at the Chinese Grand Prix a week later. He also crashed during the second free practice session leading up to the Japanese Grand Prix on April 6.
However, Doohan showed a strong performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, starting in 11th place and running well before ultimately finishing in 14th.
According to Racing News 365, team principal Oliver Oakes praised Doohan's progress, saying, "Jack, to give him credit, he's learning well. You never get much credit in F1 when you're a youngster and everyone's sort of looking at what you're up to. But I think he'll definitely feel more confident after this weekend."
