"Utah Maintains Unbeaten Record with OT Victory Against Rangers in NHL Recap"
Clayton Keller's second goal of the game proved to be the deciding factor for the Utah Hockey Club, as they defeated the New York Rangers 6-5 in overtime on Saturday.
Keller's third goal of the season came in the extra period with only 55 seconds remaining, securing Utah's third consecutive victory. He maneuvered around the back of the net before backhanding a shot past Igor Shesterkin for the win.
The first-year franchise has had a strong start to the NHL season. According to Hockey-Reference.com, Utah is only the 18th team since 1917, and just the third since 1994, to score five or more goals in each of their first three games of the season.
New York's Artemi Panarin scored twice, with his first goal tying the game at 1 in the opening period. Alexis Lafreniere, playing in his 300th career game, assisted on the goal with a drop pass to his linemate.
Bruins 2, Kings 1 (OT)
David Pastrnak's overtime goal at 3:07 secured the win for Boston as they came back from a one-goal deficit in the second period to defeat the Los Angeles Kings.
Pastrnak cut to the net and received a give-and-go pass from defenseman Mason Lohrei for the game-winning goal. This was the Bruins' second consecutive victory and their first overtime win of the season.
Trevor Moore scored for the Kings, and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves in their season opener on Thursday against Buffalo.
Sabres 5, Panthers 2
Devon Levi, playing against the team that drafted him, made 23 saves to lead the Buffalo Sabres to their first win of the season against the Florida Panthers.
Buffalo got goals from Jordan Greenway, Tage Thompson, Henri Jokiharju, Mattias Samuelsson, and an empty-netter from Alex Tuch. This win ended a five-game losing streak for the Sabres against the Panthers.
Nate Schmidt and Sam Bennett scored for Florida, with Bennett's goal being their first power play goal of the season.
Red Wings 3, Predators 0
Cam Talbot made 42 saves in his first start for the Detroit Red Wings, leading them to a shutout win over the Nashville Predators.
Talbot, who signed a two-year contract as a free agent, earned his 32nd career shutout. J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp, and Dylan Larkin each scored for the Red Wings.
Juuse Saros, who missed the Predators' opener due to a lower-body injury, made 19 saves. Nashville forward Filip Forsberg played in his 700th career game.
Kraken 5, Wild 4 (SO)
Jordan Eberle's two goals in regulation and the decisive goal in the shootout lifted the Seattle Kraken to their first win of the season against the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Jared McCann also scored for Seattle, tying the game with less than four minutes left in regulation. Tye Kartye also scored for the Kraken, and goaltender Joey Daccord made 34 saves and allowed only one goal in the shootout.
Kirill Kaprizov had a goal and two assists for the Wild, but was unable to convert in the shootout. Mats Zuccarello and Matt Boldy also scored for Minnesota.
Blue Jackets 6, Avalanche 4
Kirill Marchenko's early second-period goal and two assists helped the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.
Sean Monahan also had a goal and two assists, Adam Fantilli, Zach Werenski, and Kent Johnson also scored for the Blue Jackets. Daniil Tarasov made 26 saves in the win.
Nathan MacKinnon and Ross Colton each had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, with Miles Wood and Casey Mittelstadt also scoring. Alex Georgiev allowed three goals on nine shots before being replaced by Justus Annunen, who made 11 saves.
Blackhawks 5, Oilers 2
Teuvo Teravainen's two goals and two assists led the Chicago Blackhawks to a win over the Edmonton Oilers in Edmonton.
