Utah HC authorities silent following disclosure of Mammoth mascot

Officials from the Utah Hockey Club declined to verify if the team will adopt the name Utah Mammoth after the information was supposedly leaked on Tuesday evening.
As stated in a report by ESPN, the team's official YouTube channel was briefly changed from @UtahHockeyClub to @UtahMammoth. Screenshots taken by fans quickly spread online and the channel was subsequently deactivated.
Utah HC recently completed their first season in Salt Lake City.
Fans at the Delta Center voted for a new name for the relocated Arizona Coyotes franchise this season. Mammoth was reportedly one of the top three choices, along with Utah Outlaws and the current name, Utah Hockey Club.
Mike Maughan, an executive with the team's owner Smith Entertainment Group, told ESPN on Wednesday morning that "progress is ongoing in considering all three of the name options that were selected as finalists by our fans." He also stated that the team is on track to announce a permanent name and identity before the 2025-2026 NHL season and looks forward to sharing it with fans.
When asked about the leak, Maughan reiterated his previous statement. "We are still on track to reveal a permanent name and identity before the 2025-2026 NHL season."
Sources within the league informed ESPN that Utah HC is expected to unveil their new name and logo before the 2025 NHL Draft on June 27-28.
