Buffalo Sabres defender Rasmus Dahlin was fined $5,000 by the NHL on Tuesday for a high-sticking incident involving Florida Panthers forward Anton Lundell.

This fine is the maximum allowed under the league's collective bargaining agreement.

The incident took place during the Panthers' 5-2 win over the Sabres on Monday, with only 7:02 remaining in the third period. Dahlin was given a minor penalty for slashing just two seconds later.

In Monday's game, Dahlin scored his first goal of the season in the second period. The 24-year-old Swedish player has also recorded five assists and accumulated eight penalty minutes in 10 games so far this season.

Since being selected as the top overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Sabres, Dahlin has amassed a total of 298 points (67 goals, 231 assists) in 446 career games.
