NHL to Hold In-Person Hearing with Ryan Hartman of the Wild

Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman has been offered an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday, following a match penalty for roughing Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle.

The specific date and time of the hearing are still to be determined. This type of hearing gives the league the option to potentially suspend Hartman for six games or more.

Hartman, who is 30 years old, is not new to the NHL Department of Player Safety. He has been suspended four times in his 11 seasons in the league, including a three-game ban last April for throwing his stick at officials.

During Saturday's game, Hartman appeared to slam Stutzle's face into the ice after a faceoff in the second period of the Wild's 6-0 loss to the Senators in Ottawa. This resulted in Stutzle bleeding from a cut above his eyebrow.

Hartman was given a match penalty for attempting to injure on the play.

Earlier in the same period, Stutzle was given a two-minute minor penalty for slashing against Hartman.

This season, Hartman has recorded 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 48 games.
