Montreal Canadiens have officially signed Arber Xhekaj, a restricted free agent defenseman, to a lucrative two-year deal worth $2.6 million on Tuesday.
At the age of 23, Xhekaj proved to be a valuable asset to the team last season, contributing 10 points (three goals and seven assists) and leading the team with 81 penalty minutes in 44 games. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 240 pounds, Xhekaj also ranked second on the team in rating (plus-6) and fourth in hits (125).
Since joining Montreal as an undrafted free agent, Xhekaj has accumulated a total of 23 points (eight goals and 15 assists) and 182 penalty minutes in 95 career games.
