Miro Heiskanen of Stars unable to play in Game 1 against Avalanche due to skating injury
Miro Heiskanen, a defenseman for the Dallas Stars, took part in the morning practice on Saturday but will not be playing in the first game of the Western Conference first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche.
According to Stars coach Pete DeBoer, Heiskanen is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery. He wore a non-contact jersey during practice and is considered day-to-day.
\"It's definitely a step in the right direction from where we've been in the last 2 1/2 months,\" DeBoer stated.
The next step for Heiskanen is to participate in a full-contact practice.
Heiskanen, who is 25 years old, has been out of the game since January 28th when he was injured in a collision with Mark Stone of the Vegas Golden Knights.
This season, Heiskanen has recorded 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 50 games and has the most ice time per game on the team with an average of 25:10.
Since being drafted third overall by Dallas in the 2017 NHL Draft, Heiskanen has accumulated 283 points (58 goals, 225 assists) in 475 games over seven seasons.
