Avalanche F Ross Colton out 6-8 weeks with broken foot

Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton will be out of commission for six-to-eight weeks due to a fractured foot, according to coach Jared Bednar's announcement on Wednesday.
Colton, who leads the team with eight goals, sustained the injury during Monday's game while blocking a shot. Bednar stated that Colton has been placed on the injured reserve list.
Bednar also revealed that winger Miles Wood will be sidelined for seven-to-10 days due to an upper-body injury.
This is the latest setback for a team that is already missing forwards Jonathan Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen, both out with shoulder injuries.
Colton, who is currently ranked third in the league for goals, was hurt in the second period of Monday's defeat against the Chicago Blackhawks after blocking a shot from Seth Jones.
The 28-year-old Colton has recorded nine points so far this season. He had a total of 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) last season. He is currently in the second year of a four-year contract worth $16 million.
Bednar stated that there is no update on Lehkonen's condition at the moment, but it is likely that he will need more time before returning to contact play.
Drouin, who has been dealing with an upper-body injury, has only played in one game this season.
Wood has scored one goal in 10 games this season.
