Eriksson Ek and Kaprizov Return to Action from Injured Reserve
On Wednesday, the Minnesota Wild activated forwards Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov from injured reserve and long-term IR, respectively.
Kaprizov has been sidelined since January 26th with a lower-body injury, while Eriksson Ek last played on February 22nd after sustaining a lower-body injury.
As a result, the Wild have reassigned forwards Brendan Gaunce and Devin Shore to their AHL affiliate in Iowa.
Kaprizov, 27, underwent surgery for his injury and resumed skating in late March. Prior to his injury, he was leading the Wild with 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) in 37 games. He also missed 12 games earlier in the season due to injury.
Eriksson Ek, 28, was injured during practice in late February, adding to his already limited playing time this season. He has only appeared in 42 games and has 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists).
Despite these absences, the Wild currently hold the second wild card spot in the Western Conference with four games remaining, including Wednesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks. They are currently four points ahead of the Calgary Flames for the second wild-card spot.
