Edmonton pair receives tender offers from Blues

"Edmonton Pair Receives Tender Offer from Blues"

St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong announced on Tuesday that the team has extended offer sheets to two Edmonton Oilers players, defenseman Philip Broberg and forward Dylan Holloway.

Both players are currently restricted free agents.

The Oilers have until August 20th to match the offers. If they choose not to, the Blues will receive draft picks as compensation.

Broberg's offer is for $9.16 million over two years and would result in the Oilers giving up a second-round pick if they decline to match. Holloway's offer is for $4.58 million over two years and would result in a third-round pick being returned to the Blues.

To prepare for this, the Blues have completed a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins to acquire the necessary draft picks.

In exchange for their 2026 second-round pick and the Ottawa Senators' 2025 third-round pick, the Blues received a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick from the Penguins.

The 2025 second-round pick originally belonged to the Blues, who traded it to the Penguins for forward Kevin Hayes on June 29th.

Broberg was selected by the Oilers with the 8th overall pick in the 2019 draft. The 23-year-old has played in 81 regular-season games, recording two goals and 11 assists. He has also appeared in 20 playoff games.

Holloway, 22, was the 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft. He has played in 89 regular-season games, tallying nine goals and nine assists. In 25 games during the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, he scored seven points (five goals, two assists).
