"Concussion Protocol for Hurricanes' Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov"

Carolina Hurricanes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov is currently sidelined after being placed in concussion protocol, as confirmed by the team on Monday.

Kochetkov was forced to leave the ice following a collision with teammate Sean Walker during overtime in Saturday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, which ended in a shootout.

According to head coach Rod Brind'Amour, the recovery time for concussions can vary greatly from person to person.

The Hurricanes were already missing starting goalie Frederik Andersen, who is expected to be out for 8-12 weeks due to knee surgery. In the meantime, Spencer Martin will take over as the primary goaltender until Kochetkov is cleared to return.

Kochetkov, who has been with the Hurricanes for four seasons, has a record of 10-2-0 with a .904 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average in 13 starts this year.
