Breaking News: Kings Defenseman Drew Doughty suffers ankle fracture
Los Angeles Kings experienced defender Drew Doughty suffered a broken left ankle during a preseason match against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday, as reported by Daily Faceoff.
According to the report, he will undergo further imaging to determine if there are any other structural injuries.
Doughty sustained the injury in the first period after colliding with Golden Knights forward Tanner Pearson along the boards.
The 34-year-old Doughty had 50 points (15 goals, 35 assists) and averaged 25:48 of ice time while playing in all 82 games last season.
A previous recipient of the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman, Doughty has accumulated 669 points (156 goals, 513 assists) in 1,177 career games since being chosen by the Kings with the second overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and four-time All-Star with Los Angeles.
