Andrew Wilson joins Avalanche as assistant general manager

The Colorado Avalanche revealed the appointment of Andrew Wilson as their new assistant general manager on Friday.

Wilson, aged 41, has been employed by the National Hockey League for the past 18 years, and most recently held the position of vice president of central registry for the past three years. He served as a key point of contact for all 32 NHL teams, handling matters related to collective bargaining agreement compliance, salary cap management, trades, and contracts.

According to the Avalanche, Wilson will be working closely with general manager Chris MacFarland on all matters related to hockey, including player contract negotiations, salary cap management, and the CBA.

MacFarland, who has been the GM since July 2022, previously served as the assistant GM from 2015-22. The team's other current assistant GM, Kevin McDonald, primarily focuses on the Colorado Eagles, the Avalanche's American Hockey League affiliate, as their general manager.
