Hockey legend Mark Messier, a member of the Hall of Fame, will be a part of Amazon Prime's new "Monday Night Hockey" broadcasts in Canada for the upcoming season.

According to a press release from the NHL, Messier will serve as an analyst for Prime's Monday Night Hockey and will share 10 captivating segments throughout the season, highlighting stories from his illustrious career.

Joining Messier on the Prime team is experienced studio host Adnan Virk, known for his work on ESPN and MLB Network. He will co-host with Andi Petrillo.

The play-by-play duties for the Seattle Kraken's broadcast booth will be handled by John Forslund, while former NHL players Shane Hnidy, Thomas Hickey, and Jody Shelley, along with former NWHL player Blake Bolden, will serve as analysts.

At a reveal event in Toronto, Jay Marine, the global head of Prime Video Sports, shared the company's ambitious plans for the new Monday Night Hockey broadcasts.

"Our goal is to make it a huge national event every Monday and we are going to invest heavily to achieve that," Marine said. "We believe in bringing fans closer to the action, which is why we will have all of our talent onsite. This allows fans to feel the energy of the environment and the crowd. We will also continue to invest in innovative ways to enhance the fan experience."

As part of their two-year deal with Canadian communications giant Rogers, Amazon will stream all Monday NHL games across the country on Prime.

In addition to Monday nights, Prime will also debut "NHL Coast to Coast" on Thursdays during the season. This show will follow the style of "NFL Red Zone" and provide live look-ins of every game on Thursday nights.
