Top PGA and LIV Athletes to Compete in Las Vegas Showdown this December
Top players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will come together for a televised match in Las Vegas this December, according to a report from Golfweek on Wednesday.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 3 Rory McIlroy will team up against LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy expressed his excitement for the event, saying, "This isn't just a competition between major champions; it's a way to engage and energize the fans. We're all here to put on a great show and contribute to a positive event that brings the best players together once again."
Agent Blake Smith, who represents Scheffler and Koepka, confirmed their participation with ESPN.
Smith stated, "Brooks and Scottie are thrilled to be a part of this unique event and are looking forward to sharing more details soon."
Brett Falkoff, the agent for DeChambeau, also expressed his client's excitement, saying, "Bryson is eager to compete in Las Vegas this December in an event that is sure to provide great entertainment for the fans."
According to Golfweek, the match will be broadcast on TNT in mid-December, although a specific date and location have not yet been announced. Previous editions of "The Match" in Las Vegas have taken place at Wynn Golf Club and Shadow Creek.
The competition first debuted in 2018 with a match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Since then, other notable participants have included NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes, as well as NBA players Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
Most recently, on February 26, McIlroy competed alongside Max Homa and LPGA Tour stars Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson.
