Tom Kim expressed regret to U.S. captain Jim Furyk and Xander Schauffele on Sunday, following his remarks that caused a stir at the 2024 Presidents Cup.

The previous day, Kim had told the media that unidentified members of the U.S. team were using profanity during their foursomes match against him and partner Si Woo Kim, who were playing against Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay.

\"The beginning of the round was tough, but towards the end, things got a bit heated,\" Kim stated on Saturday. \"I could hear some players cursing at us. I don't think that showed good sportsmanship, but it's all part of the game. I understand it.\"

On Sunday, the 22-year-old South Korean golfer returned to the Royal Montreal Golf Club and tied with Sam Burns. After the match, Kim approached both Furyk and Schauffele before speaking to the media about the Americans' 18 1/2-11 1/2 victory over the International team.

\"I wanted to apologize for my comments yesterday. I didn't mean for them to come across so negatively. If they did, I'm sorry. I felt like some of the things I heard yesterday were directed at me personally, and I wanted to share that,\" Kim explained.

\"I didn't realize at the time that my words could have such a negative impact. When I play with Patrick and Xander, we always have a great competitive spirit and good sportsmanship. My comments were about something that happened off the course, and I should have explained that better.

\"So I went to them and said, 'I didn't mean it that way. I apologize if it came across wrong. This is what happened, but if it affected you guys in a negative way, I'm sorry. That wasn't my intention.'\"
