Lexi Thompson, who is partially retired, to compete in Founders Cup

It didn't take much time for Lexi Thompson to make her comeback to the LPGA Tour after announcing her retirement from full-time competition last year.

Thompson, who is now 29 years old, will participate in the Founders Cup next week in Bradenton, Florida, as per the list of players for the tournament.

She qualified for the tournament because she ranked 50th in the CME points list from last season. When she announced her retirement last summer, she did not mention how often she would compete in the future.

Another possibility could be the Chevron Championship, the first major tournament of the season, for which she is also eligible as a past winner.

The Founders Cup was previously held in May in New Jersey, but it has now been moved to a new location and a different spot on the schedule. This year, it will be hosted by Bradenton Country Club, and it is the second tournament on the schedule. The LPGA season began on Thursday with the start of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in nearby Orlando.

Rose Zhang, who won the 2024 Founders Cup, will not be defending her title next week as she returns to Stanford for her new semester.
