Akshay Bhatia sets sights on Tour Championship and Presidents Cup after a dream-like year

Akshay Bhatia Sets Sights on Tour Championship and Presidents Cup After Remarkable Year

Despite his impressive performance on the PGA Tour this year, Akshay Bhatia is not entirely content as he prepares for the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C.

As the final event of the regular season, Bhatia has already shifted his focus to the upcoming playoffs, starting with the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week. Currently ranked No. 8 in the FedExCup standings, Bhatia is determined to secure his spot in the top 70 players who will qualify for the tournament.

The playoffs will then narrow down to the top 50 players for the BMW Championship from Aug. 22-25, and ultimately the top 30 players will compete in the Tour Championship, the final event of the season.

Reflecting on his first full year on the tour, Bhatia is excited for the opportunity to play on these prestigious courses. He recalls watching the Tour Championship as a young fan and hopes to make a strong finish to the season.

At just 22 years old, Bhatia has already made a name for himself by competing in all four majors this year. While he missed the cut at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship, he tied for 35th at the Masters and finished T16 at the U.S. Open. He also secured his first PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open in April.

Reflecting on his successful season, Bhatia is already looking ahead to the future and has his sights set on playing in the Presidents Cup in Montreal in September. He is inspired by watching the Olympics and hopes to represent his country on the international stage.
