Starting safety Jalen Pitre of the Houston Texans is anticipated to be sidelined for several weeks after partially tearing a pectoral muscle during Sunday's 32-27 defeat to the Tennessee Titans at home, as reported by NFL Network on Monday afternoon.
According to the report, Pitre will not undergo surgery at this time and his return date is yet to be determined, with the possibility of returning later in the season.
The 25-year-old Pitre has been a starter in all 12 games for the Texans this season, recording 65 tackles, six tackles for loss, one interception, eight passes defended, and one forced fumble. Throughout his career, he has started in all 44 games he has played, accumulating 296 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, six interceptions, one sack, 21 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Pitre was selected by Houston in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team in his debut season.
The Texans, who currently hold a record of 7-5, will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday before their bye week, followed by four more games to finish their regular-season schedule.
