"Texans Extend S Jalen Pitre's Contract with $39M Deal: Report"

"Texans' Jalen Pitre Secures $39M Contract Extension, According to Reports"

The Houston Texans and safety Jalen Pitre have reached an agreement on a three-year, $39 million contract extension, according to multiple reports on Friday.

Pitre, who was selected in the second round of the 2022 draft, had an impressive season last year with 65 tackles, eight passes defensed, one interception, and one forced fumble in 12 starts. However, he suffered a chest injury in Week 12 and was placed on injured reserve.

The 26-year-old underwent surgery to repair a partially torn pectoral muscle and was unable to finish the season.

In his 44 games with the Texans, all of which he started, Pitre has accumulated 296 tackles and six interceptions.

This is the second major investment the Texans have made in their young and talented secondary this offseason. In March, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. signed a reported three-year, $90 million extension, making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history.
