Texans rule out RB Dameon Pierce (groin) for Thursday

The Houston Texans have declared running back Dameon Pierce out for Thursday night's matchup against the New York Jets due to a groin injury.
As a result, the Texans have promoted running back JJ Taylor to the active roster. Dare Ogunbowale will serve as the primary backup to starting running back Joe Mixon.
Additionally, the Texans have ruled out pass rusher Azeez Al-Shaair (knee), safety Jimmie Ward (groin), and backup offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson (concussion) for Thursday's game.
Pierce has only appeared in four games this season, as he previously dealt with a hamstring injury. He has recorded 14 carries for 98 yards and one touchdown so far.
During his rookie year with the Texans in 2022, Pierce started in 13 games and rushed for 939 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 30 passes for 165 yards that season.
