Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Malik Hamm will be absent for the 2024 season due to an ACL tear sustained during practice, according to coach John Harbaugh on Wednesday.

The Ravens had previously designated Hamm, a 23-year-old Baltimore native, for injured reserve on Tuesday.

Hamm, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent from Lafayette in 2023, suffered an ankle injury during the preseason and spent the entire year on IR.

\"Malik was performing exceptionally well, being a local player, but unfortunately had the injury last year,\" Harbaugh stated on Wednesday. \"It's quite remarkable because, if you go back and watch the footage leading up to the injury, he was having an outstanding practice. He had multiple tackles for loss and even recorded a sack. It was just a freak incident where he planted his foot and was pushed at the same moment, and unfortunately, that's how ACL injuries can happen.\"

\"So, he has a complete ACL tear, which means he will be out for the entire season. However, it also means that he has a good chance of making a full recovery.\"

Harbaugh mentioned that Hamm is in good spirits, but he is undoubtedly disappointed by the news.

\"He was going to be a key player for us this year,\" Harbaugh said. \"But his time will come.\"

Harbaugh also revealed that cornerback Trayvon Mullen will be sidelined for a few weeks due to a shoulder injury. Mullen, 26, did not participate in any games in 2023 after being placed on Baltimore's non-football injury list.

Mullen has played in a total of 46 games (with 31 starts) over four seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2019-21), Arizona Cardinals (2022), and Dallas Cowboys (2022). He has recorded 150 tackles, four interceptions, and 29 passes defensed in his career.
