San Francisco 49ers' Tight End George Kittle Missing from Voluntary Offseason Team Activities

All-Star tight end George Kittle was absent on Tuesday as the San Francisco 49ers commenced voluntary workouts, according to various reports.
Another high-profile player in the midst of contract negotiations, quarterback Brock Purdy, did appear at the team's facilities in Santa Clara, California.
Kittle, 31, is in the final year of a contract he signed in 2020 and carries a $22 million cap number in 2025.
According to a report from earlier this week by The Athletic, the two sides are currently "far apart" in their discussions.
In 2024, Kittle recorded his fourth 1,000-yard season, catching 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games.
Since being drafted by San Francisco in the fifth round in 2017, the two-time All-Star and six-time Pro Bowl selection has amassed 538 receptions for 7,380 yards and 45 touchdowns in 113 games (105 starts).
Purdy, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is seeking a long-term extension as the team's quarterback. His cap hit for 2025 is $5.37 million.
Selected as the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has a 23-13 record as a starter, completing 67.5 percent of his passes for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.
