Jets have no intention of benching QB Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is still the starting quarterback for the New York Jets, according to interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. Ulbrich confirmed that Rodgers will be starting against the Seattle Seahawks and there are no plans to bench him due to his minor injuries.
Despite reports that Rodgers has been avoiding medical tests for his swollen knee and tender ankle, Ulbrich stated that there have been no discussions about resting him. Ulbrich also mentioned that Rodgers is feeling healthier than he has in the past month and is excited to see him back at full strength.
Ulbrich, who took over as interim coach in October, was not aware of any issues with Rodgers skipping medical scans or X-rays after the team's bye week.
The Jets have had a disappointing season, losing seven of their last eight games. Ulbrich emphasized the importance of keeping the players focused, regardless of their playoff chances.
At 41 years old, Rodgers has stated that he plans to return for the 2025 season despite the team's struggles. He has thrown 17 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in 2024, with no interceptions since October 20th.
The Jets are currently in the process of interviewing candidates for general manager and a permanent head coach. There have been questions about owner Woody Johnson's relationship with Rodgers, but a recent report stated that the two had dinner together in New York.
