Jaylen Waddle of the Dolphins participates in drills; Tyreek Hill (thumb injury) sits out of practice with the Buccaneers
Tyreek Hill's thumb injury is insignificant, and the Miami Dolphins are determined to maintain its insignificance.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel stated that he will refrain from including the All-Pro wide receiver in team drills during this week's joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to the fear of \"risking further injury.\"
\"From a medical standpoint, our goal is to allow the injury to cool down and prevent any potential harm during the regular season games,\" McDaniel explained on Wednesday. \"While he has been very active, we want to ensure that we keep him out of harm's way.\"
Dolphins' second wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle, was present in pads on Wednesday, ending a two-week period of absence from practice. The Dolphins did not disclose the specific injury that Waddle was dealing with, but he mentioned before practice that he was listening to his body and managing \"something minor that we must respect.\"
There is still no indication that Odell Beckham Jr. is nearing a return to practice with the Dolphins.
Hill was seen wearing a brace on his hand during Tuesday's practice. Reports suggest that he sustained the injury during joint practices with Washington last week, when he fell on his hand.
The five-time All-Pro was on track for a record-breaking season in 2023, but an ankle injury hindered his performance towards the end of the season.
Hill ended the 2023 season with 119 receptions and a career-high of 1,799 yards, tying for the NFL lead with 13 touchdown receptions.
