Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the rest of the year, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans' announcement on Tuesday.

Diggs, who has been selected for the Pro Bowl for the past four seasons, sustained the injury during a non-contact play in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

\"It's a tough blow for our team,\" Ryans expressed. \"He's been a crucial part of our team, both on and off the field. His energy, leadership, and work ethic have been invaluable to us. Losing him is definitely a setback for us.\"

The Texans, who previously had a deep receiving corps, are now facing a shortage at the position due to injuries to both Diggs and Nico Collins. Collins, who leads the team in receiving yards with 567, is still on the injured reserve list due to a right hamstring injury.

In eight games this season, Diggs, 30, has recorded 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories. He was acquired by the Texans in a trade with the Buffalo Bills in April.

This injury will end Diggs' streak of 100+ receptions in each of the past four seasons and 1,000+ receiving yards in each of the past six seasons with the Bills and the Minnesota Vikings.

Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Steven Sims will need to step up for the Texans (6-2) as they face the New York Jets (2-6) on Thursday night in East Rutherford, N.J.
