Giants coach confirms Daniel Jones remains QB1

The Giants suffered their third consecutive defeat on Monday night, but Daniel Jones did not relinquish his role as starting quarterback.
New York's head coach, Brian Daboll, confirmed on Tuesday that Jones will remain the starter for Week 9.
Daboll praised Jones for his performance in the 26-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, stating that he made good decisions and checks throughout the game.
Despite completing 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards and no touchdowns, Jones turned the ball over twice in Steelers territory in the final minutes. He fumbled on a strip-sack and threw an interception, ultimately contributing to the team's loss.
Daboll noted that Jones did a good job of pushing the ball down the field and operating the plays and checks in a challenging environment. However, he acknowledged that the team as a whole did not get the job done.
When asked directly if Jones will remain the starting quarterback moving forward, Daboll confirmed that he will.
Jones' position as the starting quarterback was uncertain heading into Monday's game after being benched in the previous week's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he was given another chance to prove himself and will continue to lead the team.
Through six starts this season, Jones has completed 62.6% of his passes for 1,706 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also been sacked 25 times.
The Giants, currently with a record of 2-6, will face the NFC East-leading Washington Commanders (6-2) on Sunday.
