Eagles part ways with experienced tight end C.J. Uzomah
The Philadelphia Eagles released experienced tight end C.J. Uzomah on Wednesday.
Uzomah, 31, spent the previous two seasons with the New York Jets after a seven-year stint with the Cincinnati Bengals.
In 2023, he caught eight passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in 12 games (eight starts) for the Jets. However, they released him in March to free up $5.3 million in salary cap space, according to Spotrac.
On April 11, Uzomah signed a one-year, $1.37 million deal with the Eagles, with $795,000 guaranteed.
Since being drafted in the fifth round by the Bengals in 2015, Uzomah has recorded 192 receptions for 1,881 yards and 16 touchdowns in 106 games (82 starts).
Philadelphia currently has tight ends Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. on their roster.
In a corresponding move, the Eagles signed offensive lineman Jason Poe. Poe, 26, went undrafted in 2022 and has yet to make an appearance in a regular season game. He has spent time on the practice squads of the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets over the past two seasons.
