Chiefs game in question as Bengals' Tee Higgins (hamstring) listed as doubtful
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is expected to be absent for a second consecutive game on Sunday as his team faces the two-time defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Higgins, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, was unable to play in the season-opening loss to the New England Patriots and did not participate in practice this week. The Bengals have listed him as doubtful for the upcoming game against Kansas City.
During a press conference on Friday, Bengals coach Zac Taylor did not express much optimism about Higgins' injury.
"We will have to wait and see," Taylor stated. "I am not ruling him out for Sunday just yet. We will assess his condition."
Higgins sustained the hamstring injury during a practice session on September 5th.
During the offseason, Cincinnati used the franchise tag worth $21.8 million on Higgins to prevent him from receiving offers from other teams.
In the previous season, Higgins recorded 42 receptions for 656 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games, with 11 of them being starts. He has accumulated a total of 257 catches for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns in his four seasons in the NFL.
The Bengals have ruled out defensive tackle Kris Jenkins (thumb) for Sunday's game. In addition to Higgins, tight end Tanner Hudson (knee) and offensive tackle Amarius Mims (pectoral) are also unlikely to play.
Kansas City wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve on Friday and will undergo surgery. No other Chiefs players are at risk of missing the game.
