"Cart transports Buccaneers linebacker YaYa Diaby off practice field due to ankle injury"

Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker YaYa Diaby was transported off the training field on Thursday after sustaining a left ankle injury.

"We will assess the situation as we move forward and conduct further examinations," stated head coach Todd Bowles.

"It is a part of football. We will await the results before making any conclusions. Currently, we are optimistic. Therefore, we will wait and observe before jumping to any conclusions. However, he has been performing exceptionally well during training camp. He is a remarkable player. We only wish the best for him."

Selected in the third round of the 2023 draft, Diaby recorded 7.5 sacks, 38 tackles, and two fumble recoveries in 17 games (with seven starts) during his debut season.

Diaby and veteran Lavonte David are expected to start at outside linebacker for the Bucs, who will begin their preseason on August 10 against Cincinnati.
