'Bryce Young, Panthers Quarterback, to Make Debut Against Saints'
Bryce Young, the quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, will be starting for the second consecutive week on Sunday when they face the New Orleans Saints at home.
According to head coach Dave Canales, Andy Dalton participated fully in practice on Wednesday but is still recovering from a sprained right thumb.
Young regained his position as QB1 last week after Dalton was injured in a car accident. In their 28-14 loss to Denver, Young completed 24 out of 37 passes for 224 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
As the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Young has yet to win a game as a starter this season. The Panthers (1-7) have lost five consecutive games and will face the Saints (2-6) in a Week 9 NFC South matchup.
Young, who is 23 years old, has completed 59.8% of his passes for 523 yards, with two touchdowns and five interceptions this season. Two of those interceptions were thrown in their Week 1 matchup against the Saints, where they lost 47-10. Dalton, who celebrated his 37th birthday on Tuesday, has completed 66.3% of his passes for 989 yards, with seven touchdowns and six interceptions.
Canales did not confirm whether Young will continue as the starter beyond this weekend.
\"Bryce will be starting this week,\" Canales stated. \"We will gather all the information throughout the week with both Andy and Bryce, observe how he performs this week, and then make a decision for next week.\"
