Bears secure LB Darrell Taylor in trade with Seahawks
The Chicago Bears obtained linebacker Darrell Taylor from the Seattle Seahawks on Friday in return for a sixth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The trade occurred after the Bears reportedly pursued, but were unsuccessful in acquiring, outside linebacker Matthew Judon. On August 14, the Atlanta Falcons acquired the four-time Pro Bowl selection from the New England Patriots.
According to Bears coach Matt Eberflus, the acquisition of Taylor is exciting. He described Taylor as a productive pass rusher with a strong work ethic and a fitting addition to the team's scheme.
Last season, Taylor, 27, recorded 5.5 sacks and 28 tackles in 17 games, including five starts.
Since being drafted by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Taylor has accumulated 21.5 sacks, 91 tackles, and five forced fumbles in 49 career games, with 13 starts. He missed his rookie season due to a leg injury sustained in college at Tennessee, which required offseason surgery.
In addition, the Seahawks signed undrafted rookie cornerback Willie Roberts from Louisiana Tech on Friday.
Roberts participated in Seattle's rookie minicamp after a successful season with 38 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 12 games, all of which he started.
