According to Sports Business Journal, teams were previously informed that the schedule would be released on Thursday, but no explanation was given for the delay in a memo from NFL executive vice president of media distribution, Hans Schroeder.

Schroeder stated in the memo, as reported by Sports Business Journal, that more information about the schedule release plan will be announced in the coming days.

One possible reason for the delay could be the league's decision on which games will be scheduled for December 25, which falls on a Wednesday this year. In late March, the NFL changed its policy to allow for Christmas Day games if the holiday falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
