Uncertainty Surrounding Florida State Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei's Availability Against Clemson Due to Finger Injury
The availability of Florida State's quarterback, DJ Uiagalelei, is uncertain for their upcoming home game against No. 15 Clemson due to a finger injury.
During a press conference on Monday, Coach Mike Norvell stated that they will assess Uiagalelei's condition throughout the week. On the depth chart for the Seminoles (1-4, 1-3 ACC) against the Tigers (3-1, 2-0), both Uiagalelei and backup Brock Glenn are listed as the top options.
Uiagalelei's hand was injured while throwing an interception that resulted in a touchdown for the opposing team in the fourth quarter of their 42-16 loss to SMU on Saturday.
Uiagalelei, who previously played for Clemson (2020-22) before transferring to Oregon State last season, has not lived up to expectations for the struggling Seminoles. In five starts, he has completed 53.8 percent of his passes for 1,065 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.
According to Norvell, Uiagalelei had some strong throws and decision-making moments during the game, but also made some mistakes. The coach also acknowledged that the team needs to do a better job of supporting their quarterback.
In his first appearance of the season against SMU, Glenn went 0-for-4 after replacing Uiagalelei. Last season, he completed 19 of 51 passes for 229 yards and two interceptions in five games.
