"Ty Jackson, 4-star USC LB recruit, changes commitment to Florida"
Highly-rated linebacker Ty Jackson, originally from Florida, changed his commitment from Southern California to the Gators on Monday.
This decision was made shortly after Jackson's visit to the Gators, who had just secured a bowl game spot with a 24-17 victory over then-No. 9 Ole Miss. This will be the second bowl game appearance for coach Billy Napier in his three years with the team.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Jackson, who hails from Loxahatchee, Florida, is ranked as the 124th best player overall in the 247Sports Composite and is the third highest-rated commitment in Florida's Class of 2025. He had previously committed to the Trojans in September.
In preparation for the early signing period, the Gators have been actively making moves, particularly to outshine their in-state rivals, Florida State. In the past week, Florida has secured commitments from four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and three-star offensive lineman Daniel Pierre Louis, both of whom were previously committed to the Seminoles.
The Gators have also managed to sway three-star defensive lineman Stephon Shivers away from Georgia.
As they head into their final regular season game against Florida State, Florida (6-4, 4-4 SEC) is riding high off of back-to-back wins against ranked opponents (LSU and Ole Miss).
