Texas A&M Acquires Four-Star Recruits Along with Crucial Win
Texas A&M and new head coach Mike Elko are experiencing a significant weekend, coming from behind to defeat LSU on Saturday and then climbing to No. 10 in the nation on Sunday. They also received verbal commitments from two four-star recruits from Douglasville, Ga.
Jordan Carter and Aaron Gregory, both juniors at Douglas County High, were in College Station, Texas on Saturday when the Aggies defeated the then-No. 8 Tigers 38-23. This victory improved their record to 7-1 and gave them sole possession of first place in the Southeastern Conference with a 5-0 record. On Sunday afternoon, Texas A&M rose from No. 14 in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.
Gregory announced his commitment to the Aggies on Sunday, followed by Carter's announcement about an hour later.
Carter, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound edge rusher, is ranked as the No. 30 player in the Class of 2026, No. 3 at his position, and No. 6 in Georgia according to the 247Sports Composite. He has received nearly 30 offers, including ones from Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, and Southern California.
Gregory, a 6-3, 170-pound wide receiver, is ranked as the No. 38 player in his class nationally, No. 6 at his position, and No. 7 in his state according to the composite rankings. He also plays defensive back and has received almost 50 offers, including ones from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Auburn.
Texas A&M currently holds the third spot in the 247Sports team rankings for the Class of 2026. Along with commitments from Carter and Gregory, the Aggies have also secured commitments from four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga from Draper, Utah, and four-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin from Mount Olive, N.C. Two three-star defensive backs from Texas, Markel Ford from Mesquite and Ryan Gilbert from Forney, have also pledged to the Aggies.
