Oregon still No. 1, but AP Top 25 reshuffled after slew of upsets
The top four teams in the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll, released on Sunday, remained unchanged with Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, and Penn State holding onto their positions. However, the rest of the teams saw a shakeup after a day of upsets on Saturday.
Oregon, with a record of 11-0, remained the unanimous No. 1 team, followed by three 10-1 teams. Ohio State had the biggest win of the week, defeating previously undefeated Indiana (10-1) and causing them to drop five spots to No. 10.
But Indiana wasn't the only team to fall in the rankings.
Alabama (8-3) and Ole Miss (8-3) both dropped six spots to No. 13 and No. 15, respectively, after suffering losses to unranked teams. No. 19 BYU (9-2) and No. 20 Texas A&M (8-3) also fell seven spots after their defeats.
Even teams with College Football Playoff aspirations, like Colorado (8-3) and Army (9-1), saw a significant drop of seven spots in the rankings.
The Top 10 saw some reshuffling, with Notre Dame (10-1) moving up to No. 5, followed by Georgia (9-2) and Tennessee (9-2). Miami (10-1) and SMU (10-1) also entered the Top 10, with Indiana rounding out the group at No. 10.
Missouri (8-3) re-entered the Top 25 after their 39-20 victory over Mississippi State, while Washington State (8-3) fell out of the rankings after their 41-39 loss to Oregon State.
The College Football Playoff selection committee will announce their rankings, which will ultimately determine the postseason field, on Tuesday.
